The Xa Bao and Dan Xay bridges on Highway No.1 in Bac Lieu province are now open to traffic.

These bridges are part of the project to restore bridges on the Can Tho – Ca Mau section of Highway No.1, which is invested by the Vietnam General Department of Roads.

They are also the first two bridges put into operation out of the 16 bridges that are being rebuilt to replace weak ones.

The project has a total investment of nearly VND 2.4 trillion (US$126 million) from Japanese ODA and the Vietnamese Government.

Two other bridges in the project, the Dau Sau bridge in Can Tho and the Xom Lung bridge in Hau Giang, are expected to be open at the end of this month. The remaining bridges are scheduled to be opened to traffic by the end of this year.
