Lively laundry rooms

A laundry room is a space where you can decorate in any color or theme you desire. After all, it's a place few visitors see. Make your laundry a room to enjoy! Enliven your laundry area with color, pattern, and cabinets.

Designed

Colorful wallpaper and window treatment spark up an otherwise all-white room that's all about function. Hanging space, open shelving, a laundry sink, and a folding counter help ease the task of processing laundry.

In the kitchen

This tiny cottage had no inside laundry until space was designated within the kitchen layout. The nearby kitchen sink does double duty as a laundry sink for hand-washing as well as rinsing out detergent containers.

In a closet hallway

This washer and dryer are located at the far end of a master closet - an ideal location handy for laundering bed linens, towels, and clothes.

Sorting bins

Hanging laundry bags make it a simple task to presort laundry on a daily basis. This setup also takes up no floor space - a real plus in an area this small.

Laundry luxury

Built-in cabinetry, custom tile work, and full countertops make this space a laundry room to covet. Basket storage is handy for laundry needs, a sewing kit, and hangers.

More built-ins

The wall nearest the dryer features wide cabinets sized to fit ironing equipment and household storage for items like light bulbs. In homes with the space and budget for this type of arrangement, laundry day can be a breeze.

Stacked

Gorgeous bifold wood doors hide a stacked washer and dryer in a guest bathroom. These units are generally quiet, making them ideal for installation close to bedrooms or living areas.

Pocket doors

Here's a laundry center located in a family room nook. Hidden on a daily basis by a sliding pocket door, the washer-dryer combination can quickly be accessed to process laundry as needed. A roll-out shelf helps manage large loads.

Closeted

Closets near a kitchen, hallway, or mudroom can often be updated to include the water, power, and venting requirements of a washer and dryer. Overhead cabinets offer plenty of space for bleach, detergent, and other laundry aids.

Mudroom

Around the corner from the back door to this home, a stackable washer-dryer combination fits perfectly into what was once a coat closet. To the right, shelves make a handy place to set a laundry basket and fold clean clothing.

Hanging space

This laundry room gets interest from an inviting wall color. A long hanging rod keeps shirts from wrinkling straight out of the dryer. Under the countertop there are baskets to sort laundry and carry it back to other rooms.

A small room

A tiny laundry room was made more efficient by including a long overhead shelf that accommodates both storage and hanging. The small white door on the left of the room hides a built-in ironing board. Lively yellow walls help warm the space.

Full-size space

Though nearly as large as a bedroom, this laundry area makes the most of every inch of space. Long countertops have plenty of room for display as well as folding areas. Open cubbies were built for four laundry baskets, keeping them out of the way. Cabinets hide essentials, and two spacious hanging rods are handy for laundry and ironing.

Neatly shelved

Bifold closet doors can close off this space as desired, yet the shelves have been neatly arranged to show off an array of interesting containers and folded linens. Even the laundry soap is displayed in clear glass lidded jars.

Bath space

Located at the far end of a long, narrow guest bathroom, this stacked washer-dryer unit gets a boost of function from the adjacent cabinetry and countertop. Pegged racks on the right wall hold the ironing board, laundry bags, and cleaning equipment.
